Walter and Eveline Eselboeck: Portrait, Lovran, Croatia

The hosts:
Walter & Eveline Eselböck

Uniqueness. Extravagance. Excellence.
That’s what Eselböck is known for in Austria.

Eveline and Walter Eselböck are among the most influential figures in Austrian haute cuisine. Without any formal culinary training, they founded the Taubenkobel—a true work of art—in Schützen am Gebirge, Burgenland, in 1984.

What began as a bold venture quickly evolved into a culinary success story thanks to a spirit of experimentation, dedication, and a distinctive style. Together, they guided the Taubenkobel to international acclaim over the course of decades, with the unique distinction of holding the top rating in Austria in Gault-Millau for several years and earning two Michelin stars.

In addition to the restaurant, they launched other culinary ventures, including lodging facilities and dining concepts. Their approach combined culinary artistry, hospitality, a zest for life, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit.
